The Maryland Plant Atlas endeavors to provide authoritative distribution maps for all the native and naturalized plants of Maryland based on the best available data; to provide accurate and up-to-date information on the flora to the public; and to promote conservation and research by increasing awareness and appreciation for wild plants.

We have included every species of vascular plant, bryophyte and algae that is native or naturalized in Maryland. The original checklist of vascular plants was based on Knapp and Naczi (2015 unpub.) and has been subsequently updated.
This is very much a work in progress. Not all species records have been imported (notably Asteraceae from the University of Maryland Herbarium) and most records have not yet been assigned to quads.

The Maryland Plant Atlas Working Group is a partnership between Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), University of Maryland's Norton-Brown Herbarium (NBH), and Maryland Biodiversity Project (MBP).
